about

This song was originally going to be called "The Temptation of Sombra", and it would've been the prequel to Part 1, but Mike made it the final chapter so the series would not end on a cliff hanger.

This song to me feels different than the rest of the tracks on the album. I feel like as a band we put more work into this song than the rest, what with the key change, the a cappella, the synthesizers and the guitar work!
-Mike

lyrics

My chest is filled with heartache
watching you out there tonight.
Why did you resent me?
Why did we have to fight?
Sister, oh sister, what will I do now that you're gone?
Now I have to lower the sun and moon and it feels so wrong.

Without you by my side,
It feels my soul has died.
There's a hole in my heart,
and it was banished to the moon.

Sacrifices are not easy to make
But especially when they give you heartbreak
I will remember you, or at least the you that I once knew
Luna, I'm sorry, I banished you to the moon

I still fight to keep us pony-folk alive,
And it's hard because you're not here.
I have a wretched memory of our final days engraved in my mind,
And I can see it so clear!

I hope you come back
a new princess
But until then you are
banished to the moon!

Sacrifices are not easy to make
But especially when they give you heartbreak
I will remember you, or at least the you that I once knew
Luna, I'm sorry, I banished you to the moon

Luna, star, rest your eyes tonight
As I take rule of this kingdom
And as you take flight

Luna, star, rest your eyes tonight
Luna, star, rest your eyes tonight
[Luna, star]
Luna, star, rest your eyes tonight
[Luna, star]
Luna, star, rest your eyes tonight
[Luna, star]
Luna, star, rest your eyes tonight
Luna, star, rest your eyes tonight.
